
Sidney “Sid” Thomas Jones, 71, of Jefferson passed away peacefully August 3, 2025. Born on September 7, 1953, in Fort Dodge, Sid was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was known for his deep commitment to his family, his faith, and his community, where he made a lasting impact through both his leadership and his mentorship.
Sid grew up in Plover and graduated from Ruthven High School in 1971 before earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in 1975. After college, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Rosacker.
They made brief stops in Cedar Rapids and Carroll before moving to Jefferson, where he spent the next 41 years building a life rich with family, friends, and community involvement. Sid was an active and passionate member of numerous community and banking organizations, not only in Jefferson but throughout the state of Iowa. He was a trusted leader and mentor who was always ready to offer guidance and support to those around him, and his legacy of service will be felt for years to come.
Sid’s faith, hard work, and humility defined him. He was a loyal and proud Christian, dedicated to his family and community. Sid loved to spend his free time on the golf course, fishing, boating, and traveling the world with Linda. He was a die-hard Hawkeye fan, always cheering on his beloved team, but his greatest joy came from watching his children and grandchildren participate in their many activities. His love for them was immeasurable.
Sid was preceded in death by his father Clayton (Cap) Jones, mother AltaVene (Al) Jones, daughter Katie Jones, and sister-in-law Carolyn Brown. He leaves behind his loving wife Linda, who stood by his side through all the ups and downs of life. Sid is also survived by his children Adam (Steph) Jones, Nicki (Nick) Finkenauer, and Megan (Dan) Ihrke, as well as his 10 adoring grandchildren: Jackson, Jaden, Tessa, Taeya, Maddy, Reese, Jace, Isabelle, Brennan, and Noah Ihrke.
Sid is also survived by his siblings Rex (Liz) Jones and Tracy Hoben, and his in-laws Ted Brown, Bill (Marcia) Rosacker, Janet (Kris) Ausborn, and Dan (Sheri) Rosacker, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Sid will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his community, and his ability to inspire and lead others with grace and humility. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to touch many lives. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
